In the frame of capacity building various capacity building events will be organized, where the staff at FTPO and the interested researchers from other organizations in Slovenia and the broader region will benefit from the training provided by internationally leading experts in the field of polymer processing.

A series of 18 workshops will be organized, which will provide the team of the coordinating institution with increased knowledge and expertise on various topics. The workshops will consist of a theoretical and practical part; therefore they will be (co)organized at the location(s) of the beneficiary and associated partner institution(s) which has/have the highest know how and latest equipment necessary for the topic of a specific workshop. All four beneficiaries and one associated partner will contribute to the topics with their experts and their young researchers will attend the workshops. The impact of the events will be maximised by online streaming of the activities.

12th IPPT-TWINN WORKSHOP: Workshop on challenges, trends and solutions in recycling materials

The 12th workshop took place in Centro Cultural La Corrala, Madrid, Spain as the final conference of three BBI-JU-funded projects (Bizente, Enzycle, and Recover). The title of the event was Three Bio Paths, One Solution for Plastics. In the first part of the conference, all three projects and key results were presented and a comparison of enzymatic, chemical, and thermal recycling was made. Before lunch and poster sessions, there was time for urgent questions of participants. After lunch, all conference participants joined the discussion on three different topics (enzymes, recycling process and reuse and upcycling opportunities),  after the discussion hosts presented the results and ideas of participants on all three topics. After coffee break participants of the conference got a look in connection of results and the application of results in industry and in the afternoon everyone had a chance to join the Madrid city tour and in the evening a conference dinner took place in La Pecera, where participants could get to know each other more and find new ideas for cooperation.  The second day of the conference started with the speakers presenting future perspectives on enzymatic degradation and connecting this topic with European politics and policy. The last part of the conference was synergy sessions, where other projects dealing with enzymatic degradation and upcycling of bioplastics for food packaging were presented. In the end of the conference, lunch was provided and conference participants had another chance for networking and finding new ideas for cooperation.
