In the frame of capacity building various capacity building events will be organized, where the staff at FTPO and the interested researchers from other organizations in Slovenia and the broader region will benefit from the training provided by internationally leading experts in the field of polymer processing.

A series of 18 workshops will be organized, which will provide the team of the coordinating institution with increased knowledge and expertise on various topics. The workshops will consist of a theoretical and practical part; therefore they will be (co)organized at the location(s) of the beneficiary and associated partner institution(s) which has/have the highest know how and latest equipment necessary for the topic of a specific workshop. All four beneficiaries and one associated partner will contribute to the topics with their experts and their young researchers will attend the workshops. The impact of the events will be maximised by online streaming of the activities.

14th IPPT_TWINN workshop - Composite Technologies: Material data determination required for polymer processing simulations

At the beginning of July, the 14th workshop was organized at partner institution Polymer Competence Center in Leoben, Austria.

The content of the workshop included the theoretical basis of the characterization of polymer materials, on the basis of which relevant material data is obtained. The mentioned data is entered into virtual models for the precise prediction of significant quantities in the optimization of the planning of processing processes of polymer materials. The participants learned about the following characterization methods: determination of shear viscosity, determination of p-v-T characteristic, DSC method and measurement of thermal conductivity of samples. The second day was devoted to the integration of the obtained data into the program for the implementation of polymer processing simulations with the aim of demonstrating the usefulness of this type of research and development methodological work.
