Succesfull 1ST IPPT_TWINN Summer school in Budapest
Between August 28 and 31, 2023, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) hosted a summer school on the topic of composite technologies. The summer school was attended by 15 participants, including four FTPO representatives.
The first day of the summer school began with a lecture by BME professor Dr. Gábor Szebényi with the title Introduction to Composites. The lecture focused on duromer composites with continuous fibers. In the following, BME professor Dr. András Suplicz presented the topic of injection molding of polymer composites with short fibers. At the end of the day, representatives of various institutions participating in the project presented the latest technologies and research trends in the field of polymer composites.
The second day began with laboratory exercises on the topic of injection molding of thermoplastic composites, led by Dr. Béla Zink. In the afternoon, Dr. Gábor Szebényi presented processing technologies for thermoset composites with long and continuous fibers, while Dr. András Suplicz presented technologies for the processing of thermoplastic composites, with special emphasis on T-RTM technology.
The third day was devoted to practical work with T-RTM technology, led by Dr. András Suplicz. The participants prepared thermoplastic composites reinforced with different reinforcements (type and orientation of fibers), and in the afternoon they measured the mechanical properties of thermoplastics and thermoplastic composites prepared by injection molding. The last day began with laboratory exercises led by Dr. Czél Gergelya, where the participants made composites using different processes (autoclave, vacuum infusion and manual lamination), and in the second part, they measured the mechanical properties of the composites prepared by T-RTM.
